This week, Destiny players will get a neat surprise, in the form of Inferno Mode making a comeback in the Crucible.

Destiny came out in September last year, being Halo makers Bungie's effort at creating a vast connected world where players are able to participate in some mad multiplayer shooting action and explore the mysteries of the universe.

It's been wildly successful and millions of players all around the world are still regularly enjoying it, in no small part due to the fact that Bungie keeps trying to shake things up and offer new avenues for users to have fun.

This week, the studio is mixing up Destiny's competitive multiplayer segment with the return of Inferno Mode, an interesting variation that focuses a lot more on team communication and cooperation.

Inferno Mode made its debut in February, in Control playlists, and this week it's going to show up in Clash, the six-on-six team-based mode.

The Inferno playlist will be added to Clash today, March 31, removing the radar system from each of the participating players' HUD, thus negating the advantage of being aware of nearby enemies. This means that you really have to pay attention to what is within your line of sight, and even more attention to what lies beyond your vision cone.

Inferno Mode focuses on simplified scoring

The Inferno Mode focuses primarily on kills, being the only way to earn score points, as assists or any other regular scoring events don't count toward your total. That, however, shouldn't stop you from lending your team mates a helping hand from time to time.

The mode also reduces the number of heavy ammo drops to just one crate per match, which has the effect of making players use them more conservatively.

Combined with the lack of Tracker, this means that you are able to coordinate with your team more efficiently when trying to take down an aggressive opponent that is trying to push for more kills just because he happened to be the one to stumble upon the heavy ammo crate.

The latest blog entry from Bungie reveals that players will be able to enjoy the new Inferno Clash on The Anomaly, Firebase Delphi, Twilight Gap, Rusted Lands, Shores of Time, Blind Watch, Asylum, The Burning Shrine, The Cauldron, and Pantheon maps.
