During the E3 2015 Sony press conference, the development team at Bungie, publisher Activision and the platform holder have confirmed that they are planning to launch the new The Taken King expansion for Destiny on September 15 on all platforms.

Those who are planning to enjoy the new content on the PlayStation 4 and the PS3 will be able to get access to some exclusive missions.

When The Taken King is out, Sony fans will be able to take part in a cooperative strike against the Vex time bridge and battle other Guardians in a new Player versus Player multiplayer map.

There's also a variety of other items for the players to get access to on the PS4 and the PS3, including a weapon called the Jade Rabbit.

For all gamers, The Taken King will add a big new campaign based around the character of Oryx, who returns to the solar system in his very powerful dreadnought in order to avenge the fact that Guardians have destroyed his son Crota.

There are new strikes to take part in and more weapons and items that Guardians will be able to collect in order to boost their character, including new exotics.

The Sunbreaker is the new incarnation of the Titan introduced for the expansion; Warlocks can specialize to become the Stormcaller, and Nightstalkers are the new version of the Hunter.

More details will be offered in the coming two months.

Destiny is also getting a Taken King - Legendary Edition

Bungie is acknowledging that its social shooter is growing and offering more content that some gamers might want to pick up separately.

A new Legendary Edition for The Taken King is designed to offer gamers access to the base title, the two already released expansions, House of Wolves and The Dark Below, and all the new content.

Gamers who pick it up will also be able to use some artifacts modeled from those in the game and a strange coin replica, as well as some unique shaders, items and emotes for Guardians.

The Legendary Edition for Destiny will be offered for 79.99 dollars or Euro, which is a pretty good deal considering that gamers get the core experience and three expansions to explore.

Until then, Bungie will continue to deliver patches for the game in order to tweak the various game modes, and just yesterday, the company also introduced update 1.2.0.3 to improve Prison of Elders.
