Video game developer Bungie and publisher Activision announce that they have released the 1.0.3 patch for their recently launched Destiny, which is designed to enhance gameplay, deal with bugs and prepare the social shooter for the coming launch of the much talked about The Dark Below expansion.

At the moment, the two companies are saying that fans need to restart their game in order to get the new update, but that it has not been pushed out on the Xbox One yet, probably because Microsoft is still working on certification.

The size of the Destiny 1.0.3 patch is over 2 GB because it introduces some of the environments that are part of The Dark Below, although none of the new content will be accessible at the moment.

The list of changes is comprehensive and can be seen in full on the official site of the title, but the most important modifications are linked to the core gameplay mechanics and are based on feedback offered by the fan community.

Bungie explains that it has introduced a new channel dedicated to Team Chat in order to make it easier for gamers to communicate when they play together, and those who have been matched together can also talk to one another in both Strikes and Crucible matches.

The classes included in Destiny have also been tweaked and there are other modifications linked to the HUD, the various raids, the balance of the weaponry, and the way Player versus Player battles are currently working.

Bungie is preparing to deliver more content

The Dark Below is the first major expansion for Destiny which is set to be offered on all platforms on December 9, and it will introduce new areas for gamers to explore, a new level cap for characters, and more missions for them to undertake.

The team says that all the new content will be easily matched with the rest of the title and Bungie is already working on a second big expansion which will be offered in the summer of 2015.

Bungie and Activision have said that they have a ten-year long plan for the new universe and that it includes both entirely new titles and significantly more content for the currently available one.

Despite the fact that other major titles have been released, a wide number of players continue to play Destiny, enjoying both the PvE and the PvP elements.
