Dennis Quaid may be a lot of things but he is not unprofessional, at least as far as the world knows. The other day saw the release / leak of a video showing him having an epic meltdown (of Christian Bale proportions), on the set of a movie. It’s gone viral since.

Publicists for the 61-year-old star continue to not take calls seeking comment, and Quaid himself is proving to be just as tight-lipped about the alleged incident. For many, this is proof enough that the video is nothing short of a PR stunt.

Dennis Quaid emerges, has a knowing smile

Shortly after the video popped up on Reddit, where it generated a flurry of comments and possible explanations, Dennis Quaid was back to work. He has a new scripted comedy set to air on Crackle, and he emerged for the Crackle Upfront presentation in New York, the Daily Mail says.

The show is called “The Art of More” and it also stars Kate Bosworth and Christian Cooke. Before the appearance, TMZ paparazzi got to ask Quaid one question about the leaked video: you can see his reaction and response in the first video embedded below.

The second one is the clean version of his epic outburst.

A Clarke spokesperson tells TMZ that “they had nothing to do with the viral clip,” though if they had, they would probably say the exact same thing about it.

As per the same media outlet, the smile on Quaid’s face is a clear hint that he’s hiding something because, if he wasn’t, he would just stop and answer the question.

Of course, that’s not the only possibility: he could be saying “Oh, come on!” and refuse to answer because he believes his method of working behind closed doors shouldn’t be discussed in front of a camera, or because he’s too embarrassed about being mocked in public like this to get into the details of the incident.

There is no such thing as coincidence in showbiz

Dennis Quaid could be a raging monster and a very unprofessional actor for all we know. He could have been caught in a moment off guard and he lost his cool and exploded on a director, and someone just happened to capture it all on video.

However, there is no such thing as coincidence in showbiz. When leaks like this one happen, they happen for a reason, even in those cases when the footage is legit: to drum up publicity for an upcoming project.

The fact that Quaid just so happens to have a new TV show coming out is too much of a coincidence to be one.

So if his outburst isn’t part of some kind of elaborate hoax for Jimmy Kimmel, who is known to have done this before, most famously with Matt Damon, then it’s probably a gimmick to get publicity for “The Art of More.”

We’ll probably find out for sure in the following days, so make sure you keep an eye on this space for more.
