The Dell M3800 mobile workstation has been unveiled back in November 2013, so it could qualify as an older device. The good news is that Dell hasn't forgotten about it.

This week the powerful Dell Ultrabook just received an update that adds a 4K resolution display to the already amazing spec list.

Since Broadwell quad-core CPUs aren't available just yet, the power house of the laptop remains a Haswell Core i7-4712HQ processor which has a four-core eight-thread CPU with 2.3GHz base speed and 3.3GHz in Turbo Speed.

The M3800 also enjoys the services of Intel HD 4600 graphics, which is supplementary to NVIDIA’s Quadro K1100M with 384 CUDA cores and 2GB GDDR5 memory.

The M3800 was previously offered with a QHD+ 3200 x 1800 resolution IGZO panel, but now Dell is tempting users with a 4K model (3840 x 2160 res) which bumps up density to 282 pixels.

Dell also says the panel delivers over 100% sRGB color gamut and 72% Adobe RGB gamut. The display boasts 10-point multitouch and Corning Gorilla Glass NBT.

On top of that, Dell is also throwing in a Thunderbolt 2 port, so that folks looking to move away from Retina MacBook Pros can do so right away.

The updated machine is already available for sale starting this week with a starting price of $1,699 / €1,510.

An important aspect to point out is that the M3800 will be getting an Ubuntu edition as well, so keep an eye out for that too.
