14 DAY TRIAL // Nordic Games, the publisher that currently owns the Darksiders franchise, confirms that Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition is coming this winter to the PS4 and Xbox One platforms around the world. It brings better visuals but also mechanical improvements to loot and other things.
The Darksiders series brought forth two pretty impressive action-adventure hack-and-slash experiences, as developer Vigil Games and publisher THQ really impressed plenty of people with the two projects.
Unfortunately, after THQ's bankruptcy, the rights to the series were acquired by Nordic Games, and it seemed to enter a state of limbo, as the European publisher couldn't really fund the production of a Darksiders 3.
Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition is coming to PS4 and Xbox One
However, it's since teamed up with Gunfire Games, a group of veterans from Vigil, to create Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition, which is set to appear on PS4 and Xbox One this winter all around the world.
The confirmation, made to Polygon, mentions that the new release brings all the different DLC packs released for Darksiders 2 after its 2012 debut, which range from new pieces of armor or weapons, to new quests, areas, and enemies.
The new title has been reworked to run at 1080p and brings better lighting, not to mention improved visual effects for the environment and the characters. Besides these obvious enhancements, the studio has also balanced the combat a bit and has adjusted the distribution of loot in order to ensure that fans have a great time.
As you can see in the screenshots below, there isn't that big of a different between the original Darksiders 2 and the new Deathinitive Edition. It's a given that things might improve for the upcoming PS4 and Xbox One game as we get closer to its debut in winter, so expect to see more screenshots, videos, and comparisons to arrive from Nordic Games and the development team at Gunfire.
