From Software and Bandai Namco confirm that they're going to debut Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles, as well as on the platforms that already saw the game's release earlier this year, i.e. the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Dark Souls 2 launched this spring across quite a few devices and delighted millions of role-playing game fans with a challenging experience that demanded, just like its predecessors, nothing short of perfection. The game has since received quite a few add-ons made by Japanese developer From Software, and in the meantime plenty of PS4 or Xbox One owners have asked the studio to bring the RPG to their newer platforms.

The game is finally coming to more devices

Now, it seems that their pleas have finally convinced the developer to bring the game to more platforms, as Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin is officially confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One, as well as for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

The new title includes, as expected, all the downloadable expansions that have already been launched for Dark Souls 2 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. These are: Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old Iron King, and Crown of the Ivory King.

Alongside these add-ons, Scholar of the First Sin also takes advantage of the power of the PS4, Xbox One, and of DirectX 11 on the PC to deliver enhanced graphics. Additional game content, such as an expanded story with bonus in-game events, deadlier enemies, gameplay improvements, and a fresh NPC character, is also available.

"Dark Souls 2 launched in March 2014 to critical acclaim," Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Bandai Namco, Chris Gilbert, says. "With Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin Edition, From Software is inviting players back to the kingdom of Drangleic to experience its improved gameplay mechanics, gorgeous next-gen graphics, and uncover new unknown dangers and lore."

Existing owners will get a special update that also adds new things

Those who already own Dark Souls 2 onto the PC, PS3, or Xbox 360 will receive a special update, which takes it to version 1.10 for free and includes a new NPC and a fresh quest. The aforementioned expanded story, new in-game events, improved balance, and better online matchmaking are also included in the free patch.

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin launches on April 7, 2015, worldwide for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
