As expected, From Software released the next major patch for Dark Souls 2, which is meant to bring lots of bug fixes, a new character, a few items and some adjustments to spells.

Patch 1.10 is now available for download via Steam, so if you already have the game installed, the download will start automatically. It’s also available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Keep in mind that this patch is only for the DX9 version of the game and the re-release of the game (Dark Souls 2 - Scholar of the First Sin) will contain all the DLCs released and some extra features that are not available in this update.

One of the major changes brought along by this patch is the addition of the Agape Ring, which allows players to control their online matchmaking experience by limiting the amount of souls they collect. Basically, when you equip this ring, you won’t be gaining souls anymore.

That might be a pain for archers who need arrows, as they can only be acquired with souls, even if the amount is low. Apart from this change, the Rusted Coin will now have an increased effect and awestones should drop more often.

Some spells have been adjusted and a new character added

The Imitation spell should now affect normal enemies and the Hush spell is more effective on normal enemies. When it comes to PS3 version, From Software confirmed that the patch should shorten the load times.

A new character, The Scholar of the First Sin has been added, which can only be seen if you’re online. He can be found in multiple locations, including in the room of the final primal bonfire to be lit, if all the bonfires have been lit prior to downloading this patch he will automatically appear in black Gulch.

There are a lot more improvements and bug fixes in this patch, so make sure you check out the full changelog below.
