Publisher Daedalic and developer Forgotten Key have just announced the upcoming release of AER, an adventure game set for 2016.

Well known for its point-and-click adventure games, Daedalic Entertainment is now in a position to publish a game in the same genre that it excels at.

AER is a mystic 3rd-person exploration adventure game in which players will take control of Auk, a pilgrim girl who is set to explore a huge open world.

Auk will not only use her feet to explore this unbelievably large world, as developers thought it would be funny to give her some wings as well.

The game's female protagonist can turn into a bird and seems to be one of those rare people who can reach even the most remote places in her homeland of flying islands, in search of the “Memories of the Past.”

AER mixes elements of action adventure and flight exploration

During her adventure, she will meet strange creatures, and while some may help her in the quest, there will be lots of monsters and evil beings to take care of. Players will visit the ruins of the old gods and will have to face dark creatures to revive the world of AER from the evil.

According to developers, AER plays like a mix between action adventure and flight exploration, which should offer players quite an immersive gameplay experience.

Graphics-wise, Forgotten Key has announced that AER will be “accompanied by reduced but colorful low poly graphics that underline the quite tone of the game in a fitting way.”

As mentioned earlier, AER will not be launched until next year and a release date has yet to be announced. It's also worth mentioning that the game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. AER will also be available on Mac and Linux, probably at launch. Stay tuned for more on this one.
