Developer Techland has released a brand new gameplay video from the upcoming Dying Light, this time around with an interesting twist that enables you to make choices as if inside the actual game.

The trailer, dubbed Test Your Survival Skills, delivers a fresh morsel of gameplay, enabling you to choose from two different courses of action at set points.

The video is meant to showcase some of the different outcomes of your decisions while playing, whether you opt to jump into the fray head-first or sneak around undetected by the many infested humans that are shambling on the streets of Harran.

Aside from showcasing the decision-laden action sequences of the upcoming first-person zombie survival video game, the new trailer also serves as an introduction to the quarantined area of the metropolis, where the events of the title take place.

Whether you're dropkicking zombies in slow motion or leaving them alone and carrying on with your mission, Dying Light seems like a game that will take full advantage of the new generation of consoles, with great visuals and exciting gameplay mechanics, as well as a compelling, all-or-nothing kind of setting.

Can you actually kill light?

Developer Techland's previous experience creating Dead Island was something that came in handy while evolving Dying Light's impressive melee combat system.

The inclusion of parkour elements in the navigation of the city and even combat itself is something that fans of EA's Mirror's Edge will surely appreciate, introducing a novel paradigm when it comes to how you approach your missions.

The open-world design of the survival game means that you are welcome to try and play it however you see fit, whether your vision of taking care of zombies includes ripping them all to shreds or simply avoiding exposing yourself to unwarranted risks, and rescuing the innocent survivors stranded in the slums.

You play the role of an undercover agent on an infiltration mission in the quarantined area of Harran, after the outbreak of a deadly infection that turns everyone into mindless brutes.

Dying Light will feature a powerful core narrative but will enable you to make your own choices, and some of the areas in the city won't be accessible until triggering certain events, so you won't mess up the story, should you be more inclined to faff about with zombies than follow your objectives.

The game is coming out on January 27 in North America and January 30 in Europe, headed to Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
