14 DAY TRIAL // Techland has announced that Be the Zombie, the 4v1 multiplayer mode previously only available through pre-ordering Dying Light, will be made available for everyone for free.
Dying Light is a zombie survival game coming late to the party, but with a host of features that more than make up for its timing.
Developer Techland created Dead Island, which was met with a lot of praise, and now they want to deliver an even more compelling experience, set in the fictional city of Harran, following a deadly viral outbreak.
Surviving the unforgiving urban environment and rescuing other survivors will be the players’ main job, and while zombies are fairly placid during daytime, when night falls, all bets are off, as they become much more aggressive and threatening.
Be the Zombie mode enables gamers to enjoy some asymmetrical competitive multiplayer action, by placing one of the gamers in control of a hulking night zombie, and tasking the other four with taking it down. Not exactly a walk in the park.
Final release dates
Techland has revealed the release dates for Dying Light, which will be launched on PC worldwide on January 27.
In North America, Dying Light will be available starting January 27, both as a digital download and in physical form, for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 home consoles.
In Australia, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Dying Light will arrive in digital form for the PS4 and Xbox One on January 28, and the disc version a month later, on February 27.
Dying Light was originally scheduled to come out in 2013, but it got pushed back, and it dropped the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions along the way.
Techland is also working on Hellraid, a first-person fantasy dungeon crawler focusing on melee combat and spell-casting, scheduled to come out later this year.
