One of the most iconic shooters of the '90s

Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition is coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita gaming systems today, Sony announces.

The original Duke Nukem 3D came out in an age where plastering 3D on top of your game's name used to increase sales due to novelty, an age that some may remember as 1996, the year of Independence Day and Mission: Impossible.

The game had a profound impact on the gaming scene back then, due to its interesting level design, new ways to interact with the environment, and exciting gunplay, not to mention a sick and crass sense of humor and cheesy one-liners, things that were pretty much a first in gaming.

But time passed and Duke Nukem 3D's memory started to fade, a fact that wasn't helped by 2011's Duke Nukem Forever, a game that spent so much time in the making that eventually nobody thought that it would ever come out.

Unfortunately it did, and it wasn't very good, but at least now you can enjoy the classic that started it all. Not only that but you can also enjoy the spruced-up version put together by General Arcade, the definitive edition, the all-encompassing compendium of all Duke Nukem-related things.

What's in the box?

Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition includes Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition, all four official episodes with remastered visuals and PlayStation Trophies, alongside some other neat campaigns.

Duke Caribbean: Life's a Beach lets you battle aliens in a tropical setting, Duke It Out in DC allows you to enforce a special kind of politics during an invasion of the White House, the Lincoln Memorial and the FBI headquarters, and Duke: Nuclear Winter enables you to take a violent stroll through a winter wonderland, with the action set at the North Pole.

Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition is launching today on the PlayStation Store, available for free to PS Plus subscribers throughout the month of January.
