Gamers will have more control over their families

The team at the Paradox Development Studio announces that it is planning to launch a new expansion for Crusader Kings II, called Way of Life, which is at the moment in the early stages of creation, designed to enhance the role-playing aspects of the grand strategy experience in new and interesting ways.

The studio says that gamers can choose how their ruler character will evolve and will have more power when it comes to dealing with their personal relationships, which probably means that the ruling family will get more detailed mechanics than before.

The company states in the official announcement, “Sure, it’s nice to have someone cozy up to you and be your lover while you’re sitting atop the throne, but what if you could choose who to seduce? Or, after getting into that relationship on the side, what if you discover that you just need some space and had a way to break it off? You know, without having your soon-to-be ex-lover assassinated.”

Apparently, the Way of Life expansion for Crusader Kings II also includes hundreds of new events for gamers to explore.

Paradox is not ready to offer clear details on how the new content will impact the experience of playing the title, but it seems that the company does not have any new historical periods to expand the game to, so it will try and deepen the already existing role-playing elements.

Crusader Kings II – Way of Life will feature a community-driven beta test

The developers are also saying that they are planning to launch a major beta test for the Way of Life content which will involve members of the community, although it’s not clear whether all those interested can take part or only a few will be selected.

A free patch for Crusader Kings II will also be launched alongside the expansion, but it’s unclear which areas of the game it will deal with.

Crusader Kings II is the most exotic of the grand strategy titles created by Paradox Interactive, focused more on the relationships that a ruler has with his subjects and his rivals rather than on classic expansion and development.

The most recent expansion for the title is called Charlemagne and allows gamers to take control of a wide number of political entities in Europe in 769, while also introducing a range of new mechanics, the most important of which is a limit placed on the number of vassals.
