This newly released update reduces POODLE vulnerability

CradlePoint has made available firmware version 5.2.4 that is compatible with the same devices as the previous CradlePoint Router Firmware 5.2.3 release, but that also includes compatibility with the newly released IBR1100 and IBR1150 products designed especially for vehicles.

In order to be clear, this new update is targeted at all AIR2100, MBR1400 HW v2.0, MBR1400, MBR1200B, IBR1100, IBR1150, IBR600, IBR650, and CBA750B router models, and can be applied regardless of the OS powering your computer.

If you were wondering about the changes this release brings, know that installing firmware 5.2.4 will not only update OpenSSL version from 1.0.1i to 1.0.1j, but also disable SSL 3.0 support within your router in order to fix POODLE (Padding Oracle on Downgraded Legacy Encryption) vulnerabilities.

Therefore, to benefit from these improvements, first check the currently installed firmware and make sure it reads either 5.2.3 or lower, and only afterwards save the appropriate .bin file onto your computer.

Now establish a wired connection between the router and the computer using an Ethernet cable, login to the administration page (username and password should be required), and go to the “Firmware Update” section.

From there, use the navigation button to browse and select the newly-downloaded .bin, agree with the upgrade process, and wait patiently for it to complete.

Under any means, do not remove the Ethernet/power cable, reboot or turn off either the router or the computer, or close the web page. Doing so will cause irreversible and serious device malfunctions.

With this in mind, download CradlePoint Router Firmware 5.2.4, carefully apply the new update, and constantly check our website in order to be aware when a new firmware version is available.
