Purported Moto E shows its face in a leak

Last year Motorola rolled out the Moto E, a handset designed to appeal to the needs of the masses. It was affordable and decently specced, so it quickly gained some popularity.

As it has been quite some time since the device went live, we were expecting Motorola to be cooking up a successor for their affordable handset.

The rumor mill has been pretty silent on the subject, but now the Android Police has just published what appears to be the next-gen Motorola Moto E unit.

New Moto E coming our way?

We can’t be absolutely sure if this is the real deal, but the first preliminary clues indicate this is the case. After all, the handset takes advantage of a relatively small display and a rear camera devoid of flash (just like in the case of the original Moto E).

However, compared to last year’s edition, the successor appears to don a front-facing camera and to run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, which is expected of new handsets coming out of Motorola (and other brand vendors for that matter).

A while back it was revealed that the next-gen Moto E would arrive with a 4.5-inch display with 540 x 960 pixel resolution, a piece of information that remains unconfirmed.

Could the leaked image be showing the Moto E Styx?

On the other hand, a few weeks ago we told you about the Moto E Styx which showed up with a  popular retail British website. The handset was listed with a 4.3-inch display and LTE capabilities, so could the leaked Motorola phone be it?

We can’t really say for the time being, but hopefully Motorola will make things official soon enough.

Alongside Moto E Styx, the Moto G Titan also appeared on the website with the UK retailer, so it could be that Motorola is looking to update several of its phones in the near future.
