It uses Continuous Direct Contact heatpipe technology

Direct contact heatpipes are usually a design feature restricted to mid-range and high-end coolers, but some low-end ones have it too, from time to time. The new Cooler Master Hyper 612 ver. 2 is an example.

Compatible with both Intel CPUs and AMD APUs/CPUs, the cooler is designed according to CDC, or Continuous Direct Contact, guidelines. This way, heat is dissipated better, more easily led to and released into the heatsink.

Speaking of which, the X-Vent technology allows air to flow well through the fins. Moreover, the cooler can be used passively for chips whose TDP is of under 95W (like Intel Core i5 chips).

If you have a greedier chip, however, the PWM fan should be up to the task, and you can even install a second one if you feel so inclined.

The full list of supported CPU sockets is as follows: Intel LGA 1366 / 1156 / 1155 / 1150 / 775, and AMD FM2+ / FM2 / FM1 / AM3+ / AM3 / AM2+ / AM2.

The Cooler Master Hyper 612 ver. 2 should ship with anti-vibration rubbers and two mounting options (plastic clip and wire clip) for a price of €39.99 / $39.99 – $50.37.  If they haven't, sales should start today (September 30, 2014).
