Christian Bale is widely regarded as the best Batman we've got on screen ever since Hollywood began turning the comic books into movies, but not even he could hold on to the role for any more movies, after doing several under the brilliant direction of Christopher Nolan.

The public has recently been disappointed when the actor failed to land the role yet again, but it seems that he might have been even more disappointed as he's admitted that he was jealous of Ben Affleck when he got the part.

Bale admits that he was mad when he found out Affleck was cast as Batman instead of him

The actor was speaking with Empire Magazine when he made the shocking confession. Bale says that he did the right thing, it was the time to stop, but that part of him regretted that decision and wanted to do at least one more movie as the caped superhero.

He also reveals that, when he found out that Ben Affleck was going to be his replacement in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” he was very upset and spent the better part of an hour staring into nothing, trying to come to terms with the idea.

Bale might have given some of his best acting in the movies, although fans complained about his voice, but he also might have missed out on the best Batman movies to come, as DC Comics has expressed their wish to start an Avengers-like production, based on their own in-house team of superheroes known as the Justice League, and which also includes Superman, Wonder Woman, the Green Lantern and The Flash.

Bale too old to play Batman, offered to give Affleck advice on the role

The actor credits his choice by pointing out his age, hinting that being 40 years old is a bit old for a Batman role. But he also tells the magazine that he's been a good sport, despite his initial thoughts, “The fact that I'm jealous of someone else playing Batman...I think I should have gotten over it by now. I haven't spoken with Ben, but I emailed him offering bits of advice that I learned the hard way. I would imagine he is doing everything he can to avoid anything that I did.”

This news might only add fuel to the fan-started online war which blasts Affleck as a poor casting choice and one that will surely ruin the movie in the end. While Affleck is a solid leading man in Hollywood, Bale has lifted the bar for superhero movie to a level that was previously unseen in films of this caliber.

Not to mention the fact that Affleck is widely credited for ruining the Daredevil franchise with the role he played in 2003. Fans fear that he will do the same with Batman.
