Activist emerges, shocks with more muscular physique

Chaz Bono was on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars in 2011 and though he didn’t win or, for that matter, make it in the finals, the experience made him understand he needed to change something about his then-lifestyle because he was overweight.

That marked the beginning of a journey that would see him about 85 pounds (38.5 kg) lighter and happier than he’d ever been just 2 years later. Today, Chaz looks even better than he did in late 2013 – and he’s probably feeling much better too, because he has been hitting the gym a lot.

Chaz’s journey to good health

Chaz Bono is the transgender son of Cher, a television personality and activist famous in his own right. Because his mother is one of the most famous singers in the world (iconic, too), Chaz was often the target of nasty gossip, including several reports in the tabs about how he had only a few more months to live because his weight problem had gotten completely out of control.

Those stories weren’t far from the truth, he would later admit, after he managed to overhaul his diet and shed the unhealthy weight: he had simply gotten to a point where he could no longer see he had a problem, even though his body was constantly sending him signals that not everything was as good as he thought it was.

In late 2013, Chaz was 85 pounds (38.5 kg) skinnier, after turning for help to the team on the TV show The Doctors, who devised for him a healthy plan that would help him to shed the pounds in a sustainable, non-frustrating way.

Chaz didn’t just go on a diet, he changed his lifestyle in order to be healthy, he stressed at the time, in the sense that he didn’t cut calories or starve himself to get skinny in a very short timespan, he merely opted for healthier choices to get healthy and lose weight in the process.

At the time he was last seen on TV, he said he was still losing weight and loving everything about his new life: his energy, the way his body felt and functioned, his health, the fact that he looked better too.

Still, many assumed that he would relapse: celebrity-endorsed weight loss products / diets are such a common thing these days that some believed this was what Chaz was doing too.

Chaz emerges, looks jacked

The latest photos confirm that he is really dedicated to his healthier life: he emerged the other day, on his way to the gym, looking more muscular than he did before. It looks like he’s following up his dieting with a strict workout routine, which, if you think about it, is just what experts recommend.

Sustainable weight loss isn’t the kind that you obtain by starving yourself, by eliminating entire food groups, or by taking up the latest fad diet: that’s just the surest way to yo-yo-ing weight. If you want to lose weight and to keep the pounds off, you have to plan in the long run: make healthier choices to replace calorific foods, opt for nutritional value instead of sugary / fatty / overprocessed treats, and stay as active as possible.

Chaz seems to have everything figured out now as far health is concerned. His newest paparazzi photos are now making the rounds online, with many people praising him for being a motivation to anyone who’s looking to turn their life around. More photos are available at the Daily Mail.
