Following in the footsteps of EA, Activision, Sony and Take-Two, Capcom has also published the results of its third quarter in the 2015 fiscal year, revealing the performance of its top franchises.

The publisher saw an overall profitable year, mainly due to its incredibly successful and popular Monster Hunter series, with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for the Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming device taking first place with 2.7 copies sold.

In a distant second place, the company's powerful fighting game franchise, Street Fighter, only managed to sell 500k copies of its latest installment, Ultra Street Fighter IV.

Overall, even if their total results declined year on year, the company still managed to remain profitable, primarily on the back of digital downloads, and all results for the first nine months of the fiscal year are positive.

The financial report also makes note of the continued growth in the smartphone and social gaming space, and shows some signs of recovery in the internal market of Japan, but points to arcade sales as a weak area, with sales being sluggish.

Everything is on track for the full FY2015

Capcom has mentioned that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate sales are growing steadily, and that the game is performing as expected. Dead Rising 3 has also been mentioned as preforming as planned.

The company has also confirmed its previous forecast for the full fiscal year of 2015, which will end on March 31, and has noted that extensive efforts have been made in order to reduce development costs of video game software.

This year, Capcom has a few aces up its sleeve, with the release of Monster Hunter on western markets, and possibly the launch of Street Fighter V, although that is unlikely. However, what is certain is that Ultra Street Fighter IV will be making its way to the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system sometime in 2015, and will likely rake up some more sales for Capcom.
