The team at Microsoft Studios is announcing that Casey Hudson, who is best known for his work at BioWare and Electronic Arts, has joined the team as a creative director and will be responsible for projects that are linked to the Xbox One, the upcoming HoloLens hardware, and others.

The game maker has until now worked on big franchises like Mass Effect, Jade Empire, Neverwinter Nights and Star Wars and left BioWare citing the need for a new challenge last year.

In an interview on the Xbox Wire, Casey Hudson states that he will initially focus on the experiences that will accompany the launch of the HoloLens concept.

He explains that "I feel that the work being done at Microsoft on mixed reality and holographic computing will have a tremendous impact on how all of us interact with technology in the coming years. It’s an honor to be able to join such an incredibly talented team, and to work on something that will fundamentally advance the role computers play in our daily lives."

The developer does not mention a particular Xbox One video game that he will be involved with but says that Windows gaming will also be included in his area of responsibility.

It seems that one of the decisive moments that persuaded him to join Microsoft was when he was able to try out HoloLens and saw the potential of holographic computing to transform the gaming world in the coming years.

Microsoft is focused on gaining more sales for the Xbox One

Casey Hudson is a big name for video game lovers, but his new position will mean that he will not work directly on the development of one major title or franchise inside the company.

Microsoft is aiming to use his experience and skills in order to find out which kind of experiences gamers are interested in so that the studios it works with can then implement them in an attractive way.

The company is at the moment very much focused on increasing the monthly sales of the Xbox One, which has managed to go ahead of the rival PlayStation 4 for the month of April in the United States.

Rumors are suggesting that a range of new features, including DVR recording, better video capture, and improved graphics will be launched for the home console in the coming months.
