Lumia 830 receives a bunch of new improvements today

Lumia Denim is scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter of this year, but while flagships are yet to get it, reports coming from a number of markets indicate that at least a few devices are seeing updates for this particular firmware update.

Lumia 830, a phone that already came with Denim pre-installed, is now receiving a new pack of improvements specifically aimed at the built-in camera, so photos should now look better, while the process of taking pictures should be faster and smoother.

At this point, there’s absolutely no information on what is actually happening with the update for the other Lumia phones on the market, but since Microsoft promised to release it during the fourth quarter, it should be here sometime in December.

Several camera enhancements

According to a report posted by WindowsBlogItalia, the update delivered to Lumia 830, which obviously requires Denim to be installed on the device, comes with several improvements in terms of shooting speed, so you can now “take many pictures in sequence with an interval of only a few thousands of a second.”

At the same time, high definition photos are now possible, so Moment Capture will now allow users to start recording videos by simply pressing the camera button. On the Lumia 830, the video recording option only works at 2K, but on the other Lumia phones, such as the Lumia 930, 4K is also supported.

Rich Capture is another great improvement part of this update, while the overall quality of the photo is significantly increased in low-light conditions.

Denim waiting for carrier approval

Microsoft has recently said that Lumia Denim has already been developed and shipped to carriers, but unless they give their approval, the new firmware update cannot be released for users.

Obviously, the whole Windows Phone world waits for this new release, but it could take more than expected until it arrives on all devices.

Sources close to Microsoft’s plans have suggested that Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520 could be the only two devices to receive the Lumia Denim update this year, while the other Windows Phone devices on the market and manufactured by Nokia or Microsoft would only get it in early 2015.

This plan makes sense now that we’re almost in December, but some official details from Microsoft would anyway come in really handy. We’ve reached out to the company for new information on Denim and will update the article when we get an answer.
