FIFA 15 and GTA V are also performing well

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, the first-person shooter from developer Sledgehammer Games and publisher Activision, is the number one selling video game for the week that ended on December 20, which makes it the title that holds the top position in time for Christmas even if it might not actually be the one selling most copies in the run up to the holiday.

The experience has managed to gain one place when compared to the previous week, probably because of a price cut and because the two companies are getting ready to release the first piece of downloadable content, called Havoc.

The game also has more personalization options than ever before and Sledgehammer Games has also introduced a major new patch for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which also adds the new Supply Drop Daily Challenges, designed to allow gamers to pick up new gear, including an entirely new exclusive set.

FIFA 15, the football simulation from EA Sports, is in second place this week according to UKIE, dropping one position despite the fact that it is getting more content from the studio on a daily basis in the run up to Christmas and benefits from the added excitement that the real world Premier League can deliver.

The final place on the podium is again occupied by Grand Theft Auto V, the open world title from Rockstar, which is becoming a best-seller once again on the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony, with the PC version set to be introduced in late January of next year.

The best of the rest

Fourth place is the domain of Far Cry 4, the open world experience from Ubisoft which is taking gamers to Kyrat in the Himalayas and offering them a wide range of mechanics to deal with.

Assassin’s Creed Unity, another Ubisoft game, has managed to move from tenth place to fifth in just one week, probably because of the major patch that was recently delivered for it, and is followed by The Crew, another title from the same French publisher, which landed in 6 coming from 11.

Destiny has also improved its performance to reach seventh coming from ninth, as the team at Bungie is offering more updates to the recently launched The Dark Below expansion.

Eighth and ninth place belong to Minecraft, in its Xbox and PlayStation incarnations, and the last position in the United Kingdom top ten belongs to LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, from Warner Bros.
