14 DAY TRIAL // Calculate Linux, an optimized distribution designed for rapid deployment in corporate environments that's based on the Gentoo project and includes numerous pre-configured functions, has advanced to version 14.16 and is now available for download.
Calculate Linux is actually the name of a series of distros, which are Calculate Linux Desktop, with KDE (CLD) or the XFCE (CLDX) desktop environment, Calculate Directory Server (CDS), Calculate Media Center (CMC), Calculate Linux Scratch (CLS), and Calculate Scratch Server (CSS). Each particular flavor is aimed at a certain user base. This is great for the users, but it also places a lot of pressure on the developers who need to work on multiple OSes.
It's also worth mentioning that the OS is based on Gentoo, which is not exactly a popular base for other operating systems. There is only a handful of distros based on Gentoo and Calculate Linux is probably the best of them, or at least that's true for the desktop flavor.
Calculate Linux 14.16 is a maintenance release
The 14.x branch of Calculate Linux is a well-established one, so there aren't any mysteries regarding it. Most of its users already know what to expect from it, and new users won't be terribly impressed. The distro uses some rather old packages, especially for the KDE desktop.

According to the changelog, Trim has been activated for SSD volumes, disk operations got lower priority for the package manager, the cl-kernel tool has been rewritten, Udev has been replaced with Eudev, XBMC has been updated to Kodi, LibreOffice has been updated to version 4.4.1.2, and many more improvements have been made.
