CyberPOWER joins in the slew of gaming notebook manufacturers updating to NVIDIA’s latest GPU standard

NVIDIA has officially introduced its latest GPU endeavors, the GeForce GTX 970M and 980M, both based on Maxwell architecture and the first systems taking advantage of graphics cards are already spurting out.

Like most gaming solution providers, CyberPOWER is also rolling a family of products taking advantage of the new family of GPUs.

CyberPOWER outs the all-new FangBook Edge

Say hello to the company’s FangBook Edge, a slim notebook gaming system, only 0.78-inches / 19.8 mm in profile which comes packing some pretty advanced specifications.

The Fangbook Edge will arrive in two models, both taking advantage of the 15.6-inch form factor. The difference is in the resolution department, where you’ll have to choose between 1080p and 4K resolution (3840 x 2160).

With the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M GPU embedded under the hood, the system will offer support for high-performance gaming on a higher-than-1080p display, just like in the case of the 4K version of the Fangbook.

In the CPU department, CyberPower is throwing in a powerful Intel Core i7-4870HQ processor complete with Iris Pro Graphics 5200. Normal clock rates for the chip are set at 2.5GHz while Turbo Boost mode can take things as far as 3.7GHz.

The NVIDIA GPU will work in concert with NIVIDA’s own Optimus Technology to sustain most demanding tasks on the system, while Intel’s Pro Graphics 5200 takeover, when easier tasks are in sight. The new standard comes with support for next-gen DirectX 12 graphical API.

As for connectivity and ports, CyberPower throws in the mix everything you might ever need from 3 high-speed USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader, HDMI out, mini DisplayPort/Thunderbolt 2 port, audio jacks, RJ-45 jack,MiraCast wireless display technology, wireless tech via Intel 7260 Wilkins Peak 2.

Last but not least, we should mention 4 speakers taking advantage of Sound Blaster Cinema 2, a backlit anti-Ghosting keyboard, full HD webcam, a capable dual-fan cooling system and being able to hook up to 3 full HD external monitors (via full HD).

There is no GeForce GTX 980M option

The new GPU makeover should bring about some other positive enhancements, like the ability to play longer while your laptop is not plugged in or being able to pick between plugged-in or unplugged mode optimized settings.

The base price for the 1080p FangBook starts up from $1689 / €1337, while the 4K variation begins at $1799 / €1424.

Note that CyberPower says users can have their pick at what operating system runs on board, but the standard configuration has Windows 8.1 64-bit onboard.
