The update is said to be resuming sometime this week

OnePlus One smartphone owners have been waiting for the Cyanogen 12 OS update based on Android 5.0 Lollipop for a long time. The rollout was delayed several times, but luckily, the new build started going out last week.

But it didn't last long. It appears the update process has already been halted and the company’s own co-founder Carl Pei has taken to Twitter to let everyone know the new build is no longer rolling out (as seen at Android Central).

He explains that this is happening because of the new “OK OnePlus” feature that’s being added (for some reason, the Tweet saying this has been deleted). Which begs the question, couldn't it have been added before the new build actually rolled out to highly anticipating members of the OnePlus community?

Obviously, this is very disappointing news for OnePlus owners, but the new feature might be still worth all the waiting. As the name implies, the new addition should function pretty much in the same vein as “OK Google” does. The feature created by Google allows individuals to enter a search query with their voice.

The update should return in no time

According to Pei, the addition of the new feature shouldn't take too long and the Cyanogen 12 update should resume sometime in the middle of this very week. The latest Cyanogen update also brings about the custom ROM’s own email client called Boxer.

It was a busy couple of weeks for Cyanogen. The startup has partnered up with Microsoft to bring the giant’s services into the Cyanogen OS, but not into CyanogenMod.

In related matters, you’ll be happy to know that CyanogenMod 12.1 nightlies have finally started to arrive for a select number of devices, and the first ones to get it are owners of the OnePlus One, Motorola Moto G, and Google Nexus 7.

The CyanogenMod 12.2 update is based on Android 5.1, which is Google’s latest OS iteration. The new build hasn't been made available for a large number of devices, but it’s offered for Nexus models and Google Play Edition tablets/smartphones.

However, companies like Motorola have officially promised Android 5.1 for some of their models. Also, rumors have been pointing to the fact that Samsung is also prepping the Android 5.1 update for its Galaxy S6 flagship.
