Rumor has it that, during the time it lived inside the toaster, the iPod kept playing “I'm a Survivor” on a loop

A photo showing a partly melted yet fully functional iPod made it online just the other day and the story behind it is now grabbing headlines.

The iPod in the photo, which you can find below, is said to have survived well over two years in a toaster. Hence the fact that it is in such bad shape.

Then again, a few burns and scars seems like a small price to pay for the honor of being crowned perhaps the most resilient gadget the world has ever seen.

How does an iPod end up in a toaster?

The gadget's owner says that, prior to their tearful reunion a few days ago, he last saw the iPod about two and a half years ago, when he moved house and lost track of it.

The man believes that, without his noticing, the device somehow found its way inside the toaster and remained there in hiding until he finally decided to clean the appliance and found it.

“When I was moving and threw all my last minute items in a box. I assume that somehow during the transport the iPod ended up in the toaster,” the gadget's owner wrote on Reddit.

“After unpacking I assumed that I had left it at my old place. One day decided to clean out the crumbs at the bottom, and viola! A melted iPod,” he added.

As mentioned, the iPod is alive and kicking. True, its screen probably looked better before this whole toaster adventure and some buttons are missing, but what's important is that it's still working.

This is yet to be confirmed, but there are some rumors going on that, while stuck inside the toaster, the iPod kept playing “I'm a Survivor” on repeat, looking to keep its faith in better days to come.

Some people doubt the iPod's life story

That the gadget was somehow burned and badly so is undeniable. Still, some folks doubt that the gadget's scars are proof that it spent two and a half years in a toaster.

What people can't quite understand is why it is that the gadget's owner never smelled burning plastic while making toast and why it took him this much time to clean the appliance and find the iPod.
