14 DAY TRIAL // With the new Borderlands: The Handsome Collection set to be launched next week, the development team at Gearbox is ready to deliver a full set of instructions for all those who have already played Borderlands 2 or The Pre-Sequel on either the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360 and are interested in moving their saved games to the new devices from Microsoft or Sony.
The company says that later in the day it will introduce patches for both titles in order to allow gamers to start the process.
Once Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is actually launched, gamers will have to go to the Cross Save, on the PS3, or the Cloud Save, on the Xbox 360, and then choose Upload Save.
Gamers need to then download the saves on the other device, and the process needs to be repeated for each new save gamers want to move.
Gearbox says that on the Xbox family of devices, the move can only be made from the 360 to the One, but for the PlayStation devices, gamers can take saves and deliver them from any device to another.
Gamers who use the process will get character level and mission progress on their new devices, as well as badass points, backpack inventory, weapon slots and other character rewards like cash, eridium and moonstones.
The saves also contain the unlocked character customization, although for those linked to Telltale’s Poker Night 2, gamers will have to wait for a new patch, and items from the bank in Sanctuary.
Gearbox adds, "Note that items stored in Claptrap’s Secret Stash in Borderlands 2 will NOT transfer along with your save, so be sure to move anything you can’t live without to the bank. Trophies and Achievements will also not transfer over and will need to be re-earned."
Golden Keys do not move between platforms
The developers have not been able to make it easy to move Golden Keys from one version of the two games to another, but when Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is launched, they will offer bonuses to those who sign into SHIFT for the first time.
In Borderlands 2, they will get 75 Golden Keys, some Badass Rank and more customization options, while in The Pre-Sequel, 75 Golden Keys, some Badass Rank and more customization for weapons and characters will be offered.
