While most of us are still enjoying our time in Borderlands: Pre-Sequel, the folks over at Gearbox are already working on a sequel to Borderlands 2.

That shouldn't be surprising given the success the developer had with all the other titles in the Borderlands franchise. It makes sense that at some point a Borderlands 3 will be made and we will all buy it and play it.

The real question is how fast Gearbox will be able to bring Borderlands 3 to fans: will it be later this year or sometime in 2016? The answer might not be clear yet, even for the developer of the franchise, though they are the closest to finding one very soon.

More details are promised on Sunday, January 25

During Gearbox's panel at PAX South 2015, Randy Pitchford, the company's CEO, was asked when exactly we would have Borderlands 3. He replied saying that he honestly didn't know when the game would be out, but that more details would be reveled at the studio's theater panel on Sunday, January 25.

Considering Pitchford's statement, it's highly unlikely that a launch date for Borderlands 3 will be announced during the weekend, but at least we might get more details on the setting, characters and maybe story, if the game is not too early in development.

Borderlands 3 has better chances to be revealed at E3 2015, which is set to take place in mid-June. On the other hand, let's not forget that Borderlands 2 was announced in Q1 2012 and history tends to repeat itself.

The good news is that we will most likely know more about Gearbox's plans for Borderlands 3 no later than this weekend. We'll be keeping an eye out on this one, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter. Don't forget to check out the video below courtesy to IGN.
