14 DAY TRIAL // 3D Realms has just released the first gameplay trailer for Bombshell, an isometric action role-playing game featuring a ton of guns and a cyborg lady protagonist.
The game was announced last year, as Interceptor Entertainment's very own IP, after making Duke Nukem work on Steam and rebooting the cult classic first-person shooter Rise of the Triad.
The game takes players on an adventure across the galaxy, putting them in shoes of Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison, a former bomb disposal specialist that found out that explosives blow up, and gained a brand new cybernetic arm in the process.
After the incident, Shelly was deemed responsible for the fiasco and discharged from the Global Defense Force. A private military contractor approached her and offered her a chance to redeem herself.
The mercenary will now embark on a quest to rescue the President and save our planet from an alien invasion, and judging by the trailer, it's going to be an action-packed experience.
The story follows Bombshell's quest for redemption as she fights the Kyrr, an evil alien race, controlled by Jadus Heskel, a brilliant scientist turned diabolical madman.
A fresh IP with some old-school roots
The game is played from an isometric perspective but features first-person shooter controls, which should be an interesting take on the genre and should replace clickfests with a more engaging experience.
The heroine's mechanical arm can be configured in a variety of ways, to suit the situation at hand, and Harrison will also have a series of special moves and upgrades, accessible through a tech tree.
The game was initially revealed through a website called AllOutOfGum.com, a spoof on Duke Nukem, and the teasing continued on NoGumNeeded.com, which now redirects to the official Bombshell website.
Bombshell is due out sometime later this year, headed to the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms.
