Don't worry, “Breaking Bad” fans, the spinoff isn't going to stray far from the original in terms of atmosphere, you can be sure of that.

After the success of “Breaking Bad,” its creators, Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, considered making “Better Call Saul” a half-hour comedy show, but main star of the series, Bob Odenkirk, denies the rumors and reassures fans that the new series is going to be just as intense as the original was.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Odenkirk opened up about playing Saul Goodman, the goofy yet ruthless and cunning attorney who manages to stay afloat in a midst of a lot of shady operations.

He told the publication, “It's total drama, man. It's 85% drama, 15% comedy,” thus putting all worries at rest. He also added that the events of the series were going to take place before the action in “Breaking Bad,” sometime around 2002.

Odenkirk is glad that he was offered his own series because, in his view, playing a lead character allows him to do more than just react to events like he had done as a supporting character.

“Better Call Saul” is set to premiere on AMC in February of next year, and the good news is that the network has already picked it up for a second season, hinting at the huge anticipation from fans.
