The development team at From Software and Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Studio announce that gamers who pick up the upcoming Bloodborne will be able to play as a new character called Gyula, described as a veteran hunter with a mysterious aura who is supposed to have solid combat skills.

The official announcement on the PS Blog explains that, “No one has seen him in many years, since he ventured into the old part of Yharnam, deserted and burned to the ground after the plague of the beast took its toll there long ago. You just may run into Gyula when you venture into the old part of the city.”

The developers are also ready to offer more details about the Hemwick graveyard, which is situated on the edges of the city of Yharnam, where the main enemies are the gravekeeper hags, who deliver attacks that can take players out from distance and utter powerful shrieks to confuse enemies.

As players progress, they will be able to face a powerful witch who has a penchant for collecting eyeballs.

Another location in Bloodborne is Cainhurst Castle, ruled over by a family which disappeared and allowed ice to claim the place.

Another new area is deep under the city and is inhabited by even more powerful enemies.

More details about the game will be offered in the coming weeks and a playable version will be present at the upcoming PlayStation Experience event.

Bloodborne will deliver improved combat mechanics

The development team at From Software has said that the new game is not designed to be a direct follow-up for Dark Souls and will introduce a revamped combat system, although the higher than usual difficulty will remain unchanged.

From Software says that one of the new weapons introduced is the transforming cane, which is useful for short range melee in its initial form, but can become useful at long range once it becomes a bladed whip.

Bloodborne is designed to encourage players to be more offensive and to tailor their playing style to the abilities of the character that they select.

A new Regain system is being implemented in order to allow them to get some health they lose in combat back as long as they stay on the offensive and take their enemies down.

Bloodborne will be delivered only on the PlayStation 4 and is now set to be offered on March 24 in the United States and one day later in Europe.
