From Software's action role-playing game Bloodborne has been praised on numerous accounts for its brilliant design and engrossing atmosphere, and now it's time for it to receive some more acclaim.

Reddit user Hypnotyks took it upon himself to solve a nagging problem with the PlayStation 4 exclusive video game - the fact that you don't have any sort of game world map - by actually measuring all the levels, step by step, in order to put together an accurate representation of the city of Yharnam and its surroundings.

The talented explorer took the time not only to map out the various areas, and to create different color overlays of each one, but also to show the way in which they are all interconnected, and to pinpoint the location of lamps, in order to make navigation easier.

The user actually walked all across the map, counting steps in order to approximate distances, and using various landmarks as reference points.

He also points out that the stunning skyboxes that the game uses, where you can see distant areas of the city that you have already explored, making it all feel very interconnected, are not always spot-on, and that some sacrifices in accuracy have been made in order to serve the game's artistic purpose.

Bloodborne has a top-notch design

In any case, this highlights the great level design job did by Japanese video game maker From Software, and it is yet another reason to appreciate the PS4 exclusive.

In case all you know about the is how difficult it is and how it looks like a page right out of Bram Stoker's "Dracula," you can check out our review of Bloodborne, to get more information and find out why it's one of the best role-playing games released in the last few months.

From Software used a similar design paradigm when creating the worlds of Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2, each area usually having multiple entry points that lead into the other adventuring zones.

In Bloodborne, there are many shortcuts that you can uncover during your exploration, making the entire journey feel more immersive and atmospheric, like a genuine adventure, not just a pixel hunt.
