Gamers could miss out on a boss battle if they encounter it

The development team at From Software and publisher Sony are officially acknowledging that they have identified a big progression bug associated with Bloodborne, which might make gamers unable to actually fight a boss or to get past a particular zone.

The two companies are working on a fix, which will probably be delivered to gamers as soon as the cause of the problem has been identified, according to the Japanese website of the title.

At the moment Bloodborne players should not initiate a multiplayer in the Forbidden Woods zone, using either the Small Resonant Bell or the Sinister Resonant Bell items (some small spoilers for the game follow).

Those do that have reported that the Lunarium Key, which should be found somewhere in Byrgenwerth, will not spawn and that means that players will be unable to reach Master Willem, the Moonside Lake and Rom the Vacuous Spider.

From Software is aiming to deliver a fix as soon as next week, but it might be delayed if the problem is harder to deal with than initially thought.

It's unclear whether there are other progression bugs that have remained unidentified so far but as more players reach the later stages of the game, it's possible that more hotfixes will be needed.

The update for Bloodborne will not include the big improvements to load times and general performance that the studio has been talking about recently.

A bigger and separate update will be required to deploy them.

Bloodborne had a relatively problem-free launch

The PlayStation 4 titles was launched last week and was well received by the player base, with the biggest problems flagged by fans linked to relatively poor performance.

The new game created by From Software is designed to offer the same level of difficulty that was part of both Dark Souls launches while making the entire experience more accessible to a wide number of players.

Sony has not yet talked about first-day sales numbers or about plans to deliver downloadable content for the title.

Bloodborne is only offered on the PlayStation 4 and could be one of the titles to be associated with the Sony console for the rest of 2015, with bundles and promotions in the coming months.
