Amidst rumors of low BlackBerry smartphone sales, the Canadian company announced that the next major OS update will be available for download for all BlackBerry 10 devices in the coming weeks.

Dubbed BlackBerry 10.3.2, the new update will bring many new features and improvements, including anti-theft protection, BlackBerry Calendar, camera enhancements.

But that won't be the only major update coming to BlackBerry 10 devices, as the company confirmed that BlackBerry Blend 1.2 will be available for download soon as well.

BlackBerry Blend 1.2 promises to offer a “fresh, new user interface,” which is based on customers’ feedback. The new design of the application is supposed to make navigating and interacting with messages and content much easier and faster.

Moving on to the new features included in BlackBerry 10.3.2, the Canadian company announced that the update would add anti-theft protection in BlackBerry Protect.

This new feature will allow BlackBerry 10 smartphone users to disable the device if it's lost or stolen. That way, no one will be able to wipe and reactivate the smartphone.

When it comes to camera, BlackBerry will add a few enhancements as well, such as low light performance in auto-mode, improved face-detection, and reduced blur caused by motion.

Older features that got removed make a comeback

BlackBerry 10.3.2 will enable those who make use of Meeting Mode on BlackBerry Calendar to customize the way they want to be notified on events during meetings and which events should be allowed to send notifications. You can specify the events controlled by Meeting Mode, as well as add calendars to the ignore list.

Also, at users’ request, BlackBerry Calendar month view will show Shrink and grow date numbers depending on how busy a schedule is that day.

While there's no exact release date available for BlackBerry 10.3.2, the Canadian company has confirmed that the update is subject to carrier approvals and that the global rollout will begin in the coming weeks.
