The update will be available when these issues are fixed

Bad news for BlackBerry fans who own slightly older smartphones like the Z10 and Q10, as the latest software update seem to cause lots of trouble on these particular devices.

Both these smartphones were launched back in the 2013 and are packed with 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, which don't seem to be capable enough to handle the new BlackBerry 10.3.1 OS.

Although BlackBerry promised that 10.3.1 OS would arrive on most of its smartphones, including Q10 and Z10, things have complicated a bit after the Canadian company started the rollout of the promised update.

Soon after BlackBerry began seeding 10.3.1 OS update for many of its older smartphones, reports of performance issues have started to pile up on its forums and on carriers' support websites.

The Z10 and Q10 had been dealing with these issues and BlackBerry has decided to put the update on hold for these smartphones until it fixes the problems.

At least two Canadian carriers confirm the update is on hold

The folks over at MobileSyrup cite a Rogers spokesperson with the following statement: “We are aware that some devices had an issue with the recent download of 10.3.1 for the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10.

“BlackBerry is working towards a solution and we will update our customers as soon as possible. The update is no longer being sent out to our customers.”

Moreover, another major carrier, Bell confirmed Rogers' statement with one of its own and said that “the update has stopped, but you should connect with BB directly for more info.”

Many of these problems reported by BlackBerry Q10 and Z10 owners are related with battery life which drains too fast. Others claim they have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity issues and that their devices are sometimes overheating.

Problems with the overall volume output through speaker have been reported as well. Bottom line is that until BlackBerry doesn't find a solution to these “performance issues,” 10.3.1 OS update for Z10 and Q10 will remain on hold.
