Black Lab BriQ rev4 is a new mini PC put together by the same guys who are also working on the Black Lab Linux distro. This is not their first attempt, as the version number shows, and it's actually a pretty powerful solution.

It looks like this kind of effort, of building a mini-PC powered by the same Linux distribution that you're also developing, has been getting more traction lately. This is not the first company to do this and it probably won't be the last. As long as you have the design ready and the technical specifications prepared, you will always find some company ready to build it, probably from China.

Some mini-PC are better than others, but in the end it's just the balance between power and costs. The more powerful the devices, the more expensive it is. Black Lab BriQ rev4 is not exactly a cheap mini-PC, so you can expect to get some pretty good hardware specs, which is actually a good thing. Many developers usually go the other way, but it's nice to find something powerful running Linux.

Not all mini-PCs are born equal

Black Lab BriQ is not exactly a powerhouse, but it's a powerful alternative that runs an X86 processor and has a ton of HDD space. The housing also looks pretty cool and it comes with a wireless mouse and keyboard.

"Black Lab BriQ rev4 is a very powerful 'Mac mini' type PC that can be used anywhere. Whether you use it in your office, dorm room, living room or as a gaming PC you have all the power you need for productivity or gaming and the ability to utilize all the great content that the web provided. This is a very affordable system which sells for a base price of $550 (€480)" is noted on the official website. The operating systems is of course Black Lab Linux.

On a side note: we would love to show you more images for the product, but the makers of this mini-PC are providing the smallest images possible.
