It’s been less than a month since BlackBerry launched its innovative Passport smartphone on the market and lots of celebrities have seen this as an opportunity get a device that would really stand out.

Actor Tim Allen is a gadget lover, as he owns more than one smartphone and one of them is powered by BlackBerry’s OS. During Jimmy Kimmel’s live show earlier this month, Tim Allen explained why he decided to get the BlackBerry Passport as soon as it got on the market.

This isn’t the only Hollywood star that has recently decided to jump into BlackBerry’s bandwagon. The latest star to own a BlackBerry smartphone is none other than Bill Murray.

Bill Murray is known among celebs as a person who is very hard to reach. He can only be called at a 1-800 number, as Mr. Murray does not own a smartphone.

Well, not until today. According to PageSix, actor Bill Murray has just gotten himself an “old” BlackBerry smartphone. Given the fact that it’s an older model, we can safely assume he didn’t get himself the Passport, like fellow actor Tim Allen.

BlackBerry phones with QWERTY keyboards are great texting tools

Anyway, it appears that the BlackBerry device is Bill Murray’s first ever smartphone and the reason for which he decided to get it is pretty normal.

In an interview for Variety, Murray explained that he decided to start carrying a BlackBerry smartphone in order to get in touch with his sons who usually don’t answer phone calls, “I got it to communicate with my sons, because they will not answer a phone call, but they will answer a text.”

Given the fact that he will probably text a lot, it’s safe to assume that Bill Murray purchased a BlackBerry smartphone that features a physical QWERTY keyboard.

One of the few people to have received Bill Murray’s phone number is another Hollywood star, Naomi Watts, “People have cast me as the person to get to him. Three people have called and asked, ‘Do you think you can get a script to Bill?’ I’m like, ‘Do I look like an agent?’”

Bill Murray will probably continue to be hard to reach if he decides to keep his phone number secret only handing it to some of his closest friends.

However, given his status of Hollywood star this is more than understandable to happen. We can’t help but think who’s going to be the next actor to buy a BlackBerry smartphone, which is usually a productivity tool for business men.
