Gamers will have limited lives, teams of five involved

Battlefield Hardline is set to arrive in less than two weeks and the development team at Visceral Games and publisher Electronic Arts are still willing to reveal more details about the title, with Ben Gaciu, the systems designer, ready to show off the finer points of the Rescue multiplayer mode.

On the official site, the developer states that the new experience might be the one which sits the furthest from the kind of gameplay the series has offered until now.

Battlefield Hardline in Rescue mode will challenge cops to break into a location, get a hostage and then get both out while the criminals need to make sure that no one exits the place they are guarding.

Two teams of five players are involved and Visceral Games says that each only has one life, with nine rounds of action prepared.

Gaciu states, "This mode is all about subterfuge and distraction. There are two hostages, but cops only need to save one of them, creating an interesting choice for players on both teams. As criminals, how can we cover both hostages while still responding as a full squad once an attack comes? As cops, do we split our forces for a chance at either hostage, or do we stay as one unit to better the odds of survival?"

The developers have made sure that Rescue keeps all destruction done as the mode progresses, which introduces more tactical choices for both teams.

Battlefield Hardline gadgets are important for Rescue

Visceral Games is offering a wide range of gadgets to use in the coming shooter, and the developers want players to test them all in the Rescue mode because they can open up new routes or can offer important distractions.

The studio says that it has designed the experience for competitive play, although it is not clear whether they want to try and promote it as an eSport.

Battlefield Hardline will be out on March 17 in the United States and March 19 in Europe and gamers can play it on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and last-gen consoles.

The game is also coming to the EA Access service from Electronic Arts, with gamers able to play ten hours of it starting March 12.
