14 DAY TRIAL // Battlefield 4 has just received the full changelog for its brand-new Winter Patch, which is currently rolling out as we speak across all of the game's platforms, confirming the improvements for the netcode and soldier collision, as well as the addition of the Squad Obliteration mode.
Battlefield 4 launched way back in October of 2013, and while millions of fans eagerly awaited the debut of the shooter, many were disappointed with its many glitches and problems, not to mention the fact that the vast number of updates released for it still didn't really solve the issues.
The Winter Patch is available and brings many new things
Now, a brand new and quite major update has been rolled out in the form of the Winter Patch, after a one-hour maintenance period that caused the multiplayer mode to go offline a short while ago.
The full changelog has just been released by DICE on the official website and it's quite a big one, confirming the major improvements but also the additions to the game and a few other things.
First and foremost, DICE confirms that the biggest improvements have been made to the traversal and collision systems for players in the game. They will notice a much smoother process of walking over small objects, inclines, and other such obstacles.
Many other improvements are also included
The big update also brings improvements to the game's multiplayer netcode, so that the game's High Frequency Update mechanic works in a cone around the player, so that all the latest data from the server gets fed as soon as possible to the client.
The matchmaking system has a "New Players" setting that pairs new fans with similar people on special servers, and comes with three fresh playlists for Premium members called Battlefield, Close Quarters, and Large Scale.
However, another important aspect is the addition of Squad Obliteration, a new competitive game mode that's 5v5 and got extensively tested on the Community Test Environment by other players in recent weeks.
