Video game developer DICE might be busy with new projects, but a dedicated team continues to work on Battlefield 4 and they have big plans for the rest of spring, including a new game mode and changes to some core game mechanics.

An official update from the studio explains that at the moment the community map project is progressing well, with the team creating a number of concepts based on player choices, which include a high-level jungle setting and points of interest focused on waterfall, ancients ruins and ghost town.

A new poll will soon be introduced to allow the community to shape the new environment even more.

Battlefield 4 is set to get a big Spring Update in May and the main new addition is the Gun Master mode, which is designed to run players through a list of weapons, challenging them to use each for a number of kills in order to progress.

The shooter is also getting a new Weapon Crate, which will deliver "a classic lever-action rifle and a fan-favorite Russian assault rifle from a previous Battlefield game. Stay tuned for the exact content. Speaking of guns, all the Battlefield 4 weapons have received a balance pass to make your firefights as fair as possible. The image below shows the different effects your weapon has on different ranges."

The button at the end of the article offers a full list of the changes coming to the weapons of Battlefield 4.

The shooter will exist alongside Battlefield Hardline

With some gamers unwilling to try out the new Hardline because of its shift away from the military theme, it seems that DICE has long-term plans to deliver more content for its already classic experience.

Battlefield 4 had some problems when it was launched, but after extensive patches, it offers a solid experience which has already received a wide range of new content from the studio.

The Community Map, the Gun Master mode and the new weapon crate will certainly keep the community engaged, but DICE also needs to deliver some more weapons at some point in the summer.

Currently, the company is also working on the new Star Wars: Battlefront, which is supposed to be introduced in the fall on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.
