DICE and Electronic Arts confirm that Battlefield 4 is now entering a period of maintenance so that the special Winter Patch can be rolled out across PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One around the world. During this time, the multiplayer mode will be unavailable.

Battlefield 4 launched back in late 2013 and was immediately caught in a huge uproar as the title suffered from a wide array of problems when it came to its multiplayer mode, not to mention glitches that affected the single-player story campaign.

The Winter Patch for Battlefield 4 rolls out now

The game has since received a wide array of updates and today, March 3, the special Winter Patch is going to launch all over the world across all platforms.

The big update targets important areas in the multiplayer mode such as the netcode or soldier collision. It also tweaks the Squad Obliteration game mode that will be turned into the lead competitive mode for the game.

Besides these two big aspects, the update is expected to include a few more things but an official changelog isn't available just yet.

The game is going offline for maintenance

However, DICE confirms on the official forums that the Battlefield 4 multiplayer experience is going offline starting right now, at 1am PDT (9am UTC), so that the big update can be rolled out across the game's servers.

The PC platform will get the patch first, followed by the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms. The maintenance periods will be staggered and should last around one hour, if everything goes according to plan.

A full changelog for the Battlefield 4 Winter Patch is going to be shared once the update is officially released for all platforms so stay tuned for more details in the following hours about what's coming to the popular first-person shooter.
