The rare and quite amusing sight was caught on camera by Martin Le-May in the UK this just yesterday

In case you haven't figured it out just yet, nature is pretty darn amazing, and I dare say this photo showing a baby weasel hitching a ride on the back of a woodpecker more than proves it.

The photo was taken this past Monday by a man named Martin Le-May, who chanced to witness the rather bizarre scene while hanging out in Essex, England, BuzzFeed tells us.

Apparently, Martin Le-May and his wife were just walking around in Hornchurch Country Park in east London when they noticed a bird behaving rather oddly. They soon realized that the bird was carrying a small furry creature on its back.

Some might be tempted to think that the baby weasel and the green woodpecker can only be the absolute best friends in history and that they were just having some fun together when Martin Le-May came across them.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. As shocking as this may sound, the baby weasel was actually trying to kill the bird and eat it. That's right, weasels are by no means the friendliest of creatures.

The good news is that, being young and inexperienced, the cute-looking predator failed to turn the woodpecker into its midday snack. Instead, the bird made an emergency landing and managed to shake off its would-be killer.
