BlackBerry released a new version of BBM for Android and iOS in late in October, which brought in a few important privacy and control features like Timed Messages and Message Retraction.

Well today, the company is pushing out a new improvement for its popular messaging service which will probably appeal most to users of Android and iOS users.

What's new in version 2.6

Without dancing around the subject too much, we’ll tell you that the new update adds compatibility with Lollipop 5.0 on Android and ads a fresh look on iOS.

Even if Blackberry’s smartphone business is pretty shaky these days, as most customers tend to turn to Android, iOS or Windows Phone alternatives instead, the company’s messaging service is still pretty popular.

The device maker bestowed compatibility for the app on third-party platforms late last year and since then updates seem to be coming at a constant pace. For example, early this month, BBM Beta for Windows Phone got updated with stickers and Snapchat-like privacy features.

Now going back to the current update, the new BBM version adds a feature that has been extensively requested by users (according to BlackBerry), namely stickers in group chats.

So now you’ll be able to use big, colorful icons in order to share your feelings with your friends, while there’s more of you gathered up for a chat.

In case you need more stickers in your life, BlackBerry is currently offering all packs for $0.99 for a limited time.

On top of that, the newly added self-destruction messaging app has been improved, so now you’ll be able to send messages that last up to 60 seconds. Furthermore, timed messages and pictures can now be viewed multiple times before time expires.

New BBM update brings compatibility with iOS 8

For users of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus the changes are a bit more drastic, in the good sense. BBM no longer looks the same as its BlackBerry 10 counterpart, as its interface has been simplified adding cleaner icons and finer fonts.

Android users aren’t currently enjoying the same redesign, but there’s a perk coming with this update which might make them forget about that. BBM is now compatible with Lollipop devices (so if you have a Nexus 6, get it out now) and adds a new landscape mode plus delivered and read notifications for images.

Blackberry says it will take 24 hours for the update to reach all platforms, so if you don’t see the changes yet, give it time.
