Players are free to do whatever they want in the game

Destiny players who use the already-infamous loot caves to farm up legendary engrams with very little actual activity shouldn't worry about a possible ban from developer Bungie, as the studio confirms that it wants to provide better alternatives to such exploits.

Destiny appeared at the beginning of the month and attracted plenty of gamers from across the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms, delivering a pretty solid online first-person shooter experience.

Loot caves were quickly found by players

However, due to its repetitive gameplay and underwhelming story, many fans decided to abandon the game, and those who remained started coming up with exploits that generated a lot of loot in a short time, just to ensure that they progressed in levels as fast as possible.

These so-called loot caves represented monster spawn areas found in caves throughout the game's four major environments, where enemies would respawn in just a few seconds, instead of in minutes like in most areas.

As such, players just had to ensure that they stayed in a single spot and kept unleashing all their bullets into the respective cave when the monsters re-appeared. This resulted in plenty of legendary engrams for players, which were then transformed by the Cryptarch non-playable character in the Tower zone into great weapons and gear, most of the times at least.

Bungie has started eliminating the caves but won't punish players

As you can imagine, Bungie isn't so thrilled with players abandoning their adventures in the story campaign or in the cooperative raids to go shoot at caves. The studio has rolled out a hotfix update to eliminate the easy caves and increase the respawn timer on the enemies, but players are already finding new zones and caves to farm after the patch.

While this crusade is no doubt going to continue with more updates from Bungie, the studio's Community Manager, David Dague, mentions on the official website that there will be no bans or punishment for players who use the exploits. However, players should expect this kind of behavior to become rarer due to the tweaked caves.

"We didn’t ban anyone for staring longingly into the Holy Cave – or for shooting into it for hours on end. The last safe City on Earth needs more hunters than farmers, though, so we’ll do what we can to inspire you to complete missions of variable difficulty under new, challenging circumstances," he explains.

As such, players should keep on trying to find new exploits, as there won't be any major repercussions for their behavior.
