The team is aiming to improve the balance in the future

Destiny is close to getting an entirely new expansion, but the developers at Bungie working on it continue to tweak content that’s already available for fans, with the strikes next in line to be modified so that they become more accessible and work as initially conceptualized.

In a new weekly update, the studio explains that it has been tracking how gamers behave since the social shooter was launched and the data collected showed that team size played too large a role in the damage that an enemy attack would generate upon the player group.

James Tsai, the leading designer in charge of Strikes in Destiny, says that a number of changes have been made.

He explains that “We tuned the damage to be a little easier overall so that we’d see higher survival rates in 3-player fireteams. Then, we normalized these damage values across all group sizes so that players wouldn’t feel that additional Guardians joining their Strike made things harder. Players can now be certain that people joining their team are helping their progress, not hindering it.”

This means that it will be harder for gamers to complete Strikes on their own, and apparently Bungie is currently evaluating how it might modify mechanics in order to change the situation so that lone wolves can once more explore the content.

The focus is now on The Dark Below expansion

At the moment, most of the resources at Bungie are dedicated to the development and the launch of The Dark Below, the first full expansion for Destiny.

Gamers who get it will be able to explore new environments, battle smarter enemy groups, earn rewards which will be adequate for their increased level cap and battle Crota, an enemy god, in one of the included new raids, one of which is at the moment reserved for those who play on the PlayStation home consoles.

Those who have a Season Pass or have pre-ordered the expansion can now go to the Postmaster in order to get access to the EV-30 Tumbler Sparrow.

Gamers who like Player versus Player can also take part in a new version of The Iron Banner, which is running until November 24 and offers access to some new rewards.

Bungie and Activision have already said that they have a ten-year life plan for the universe created for Destiny and a second expansion is already set to be offered in the summer of 2015.
