Ubisoft revealed one of the in-game cinematic cut-scenes from the upcoming action adventure video game Assassin's Creed Unity, foreshadowing the events that players will bear witness to while enjoying the next entry in the long-standing series.

The game is, as always, based on history, and takes place during the events of the French Revolution, in 1789, in Paris.

The single-player story follows new protagonist Arno Dorian, as he tries to uncover the true force behind the Revolution, and for the first time in the series, allows up to four players to tackle missions cooperatively.

Players will be able to enter taverns, which function as the game's social hubs, and check to see whether any of their friends are engaged in a mission, and approach them to request to join their adventure.

The exclusive cinematic sneak peek

The cinematic is an exclusive offering from developer Ubisoft, enabling eager fans to see some of the action in the upcoming game, showing Arno incarcerated with a master fencer, training for a couple of months in order to get the necessary skills to make a difference during the Revolution.

The cinematic was released following the massive fan participation in a social promotion, unlocking the video, which was posted on the official Assassin's Creed UK YouTube channel for gamers to enjoy.

A truly next-gen experience

The upcoming video game features a detailed rendition of the city streets of Paris, realized almost to scale, and even allows players to enter a lot of the buildings they see and use them for navigation, no longer restricting them to alleyways and rooftops.

Making your way through interiors is, however, not just an optional feature, but will be required in order for players to get away from guards, and will introduce a new layer of choice, as missions will no longer be as linear as in the past, encouraging players to take different routes and approach them in their preferred manner.

The open-world element will be more prominent than ever, and the developers say that the next-gen hardware is utilized to its fullest in order to provide fans with the most engrossing experience yet.

Assassin's Creed Unity is coming exclusively to next-gen, expected out on November 11 in North America, November 13 in Europe and other PAL territories, and on December 4 in Japan, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners can look forward to Assassin's Creed Rogue, headed their way on November 11 in North America and November 13 in Europe, and also rumored to make an appearance on PC.
