The game still suffers from really bad issues

The recently released update 4 for Assassin's Creed Unity doesn't seem to fix the pop-in experienced by non-playable characters, and according to a few GIFs shared by users on the PS4 platform, it even adds a new spawn effect for those popped-in beings to make it more in theme with the fictional Animus system.

Assassin's Creed Unity caused a huge uproar when it first launched back in November, as it suffered from a wide array of issues relating to gameplay, visuals, and much more. Ubisoft has since pledged to solve all the problems and even offered a few rewards for those who got the game and were disappointed with the product.

The latest patch added more problems

The fourth major patch rolled out a few hours ago and was immediately met with some fresh issues on the Xbox One relating to its download size, as instead of getting the 6.7GB update, it redownloaded the whole 40GB game.

Now, PS4 owners are encountering different glitches when playing the game after installing the latest update, according to reports on NeoGAF.

As you can see below in the animated GIFs, the pop-in effect that causes non-playable characters like Parisian citizens to suddenly spawn in the game's world is still really common and can even affect the actual gameplay, as beings pop in the direction in which protagonist Arno Dorian is running.

What's more, as spotted by some eagle-eyed fans, it seems that Ubisoft has added a new effect to the NPC spawn animation, which makes it match the theme of the fictional Animus system that's present in the game.

Fans aren't pleased

As you can imagine, fans aren't so happy with these issues and are once again heavily criticizing Ubisoft for the glitches in the long awaited game and for the lack of any useful updates for it.

"I've put about 10 hours into this the last few days on PS4, and found the framerate manageable, but the NPC pop-in was really bugging me. After the patch it seems much worse. Am I the only one seeing this? Whole groups of NPCs popping in everywhere and their shadows, building textures in the distance. I just had a group of NPCs pop in as I ran into them. You can see when the NPCs pop-in in that GIF, how [Ubisoft] programmed some little visual effect as they materialize, like they anticipated the pop in, and tried to make it look cool."

You can check out the different pop-in effects experienced by some players of Assassin's Creed Unity after installing patch 4 below.
