Ubisoft confirms, after emphasizing that the fourth major update for Assassin's Creed Unity is going to appear in the following hours, that the patch is now delayed and should appear later in the week, due to the need of a refurbishing for the map of Paris.

Assassin's Creed Unity launched back in November and was supposed to herald the dawn of a new age for the long running series made by Ubisoft, with overhauled versions of core mechanics like freerunning, combat, or stealth.

Unfortunately for the franchise's millions of fans, the end result wasn't all that great, as plenty of glitches, issues, and problems affected Unity in its first few days, and are still plaguing it despite several major updates released by Ubisoft since then.

Patch 4 is still in development

The fourth big patch was set to appear today for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but Ubisoft has posted a new statement on its live blog, announcing that it's decided to delay the update a few more days in order to implement some more enhancements.

According to the publisher, it's decided to take a much closer look at the update ahead of its release in order to ensure that it won't cause other, unforeseen issues, while fixing the many current problems that affect the game.

"Rigorous quality control is of paramount importance to us, and your feedback over these past weeks has indicated that it is important to you as well. As stated last week, we’d expected to release the patch today (and we know that many are anticipating its release), but we are choosing to hold off until we can give you the improvements we’ve promised," the studio explains.

The map of Paris is getting refurbished

One of the major reasons for the delay of the new Assassin's Creed Unity patch is the necessity of an overhaul of the game's Paris map, as it needs a few more days to deliver a quality experience to players from all over the world.

"We are committed to delivering major performance improvements, which requires that we refurbish the Paris map and that will take a few more days to hit the high level of quality our players deserve. Thank you very much for your understanding and continued patience," the publisher adds.

As such, expect the latest update for Assassin's Creed Unity to launch later the in the week, probably before the actual winter holidays begin and Ubisoft's development team goes off on vacation. Expect more details soon enough.
