The team at Ubisoft working on Assassin's Creed Rogue is ready to deliver the launch trailer for the upcoming title, which will be launched on November 18 and will only be offered on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

The footage explains the premise of the title, which will feature a protagonist called Shay Patrick Cormac, who has decided to abandon the Assassin order in order to side with the Templars, bringing over a wealth of information about his former comrades, with whom he now has to battle.

The game is designed to offer an experience that is similar in terms of core gameplay to that introduced in Black Flag, although the developers have learned a lot of lessons from the previous release, which they say have made Rogue a much better title.

Cormac is now a traitor and that means that he needs to constantly live in fear of being taken out by Assassins, with the enemies able to execute many of the moves that gamers have been deploying in previous installments of the series.

Ubisoft says that paranoia and fear are some of the main themes of the title, and both the exploration and the combat mechanics have been expanded in interesting ways.

The story of Assassin's Creed Rogue is set during the events of the Seven Years’ War and gamers will need to explore the Atlantic coast on foot while also traveling on the ocean in a new ship, which is nimbler and has more options for upgrade.

Assassin's Creed Rogue complements Unity

Ubisoft claims that it has designed Assassin's Creed Rogue to act as a companion piece for  Unity, the title in the same franchise which is being delivered for the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and the PC, with the two stories being linked in yet unspecified ways.

The game offered for the last generation of consoles is clearly designed to increase sales of the series and to give gamers a clear reason to move to the new devices created by Microsoft and Sony.

Rogue is at the moment designed only for the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but it's very probable that a High Definition version of the experience will be offered in the future for other platforms, perhaps as part of a bigger collection that mimics the core ideas of Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Rogue might never be offered on the PC.
