Midler fired first when she said Ariana was too racy

Not able to let a bad thing said about her left unanswered, Ariana Grande has decided to hit back at Bette Midler, the actress who slammed her in a recent interview as representing everything that's wrong with the current pop scene.

This should have been one of the moments when Ariana, a representative of the young generation, should have shut up and take it on the chin, accepting constructive criticism from a big name in the entertainment industry.

Ariana doesn't waste a chance to hit back at Midler, points out that she was racy too in her younger days

But since Ariana seems to have a very big ego, she couldn't just let it slide. So, after yesterday Bette said that Ariana represented a very raunchy portrayal of today's pop industry that should do less writhing on couches in her videos and more talented singing, Ariana now hits back on her Twitter account.

In a passive-aggressive way, Ariana doesn't go directly for the counter-blow, but decided to play it tactfully. She writes, “Bette was always a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judgement! Not sure where that Bette went but I want that sexy mermaid back!!! always a fan no matter what my love (sic).”

This would have been the high road to take for Grande, except that her counter-attack did not stop here. She also added to her post a photo of a bikini-clad Bette from her younger days, a definite hit below the belt that pointed that Bette too resorted to racy outfits and acts at the start of her career.

Midler said that Ariana was “annoying” and too racy for pop music

In her interview with Telegraph on November 24, Bette Midler pointed out that Ariana had an annoying high voice and that she looked ridiculous constantly trying to be lewd and suggestive in her videos and her performances.

It's true that Better used to be a lot racier in her younger days, but this does not give Ariana, a 21-year-old singer who has just cracked the music charts in the last year, the right to berate and take stabs at Bette Midler, a 68-year-old actress and singer who has been present in the entertainment industry for decades.

Ariana was keen to remind everyone that she was ready to bury the hatchet, saying this like “all love here” and “I will still quote first wives club every single day of my life lmao (sic).” She's referring to one of Bette's better known comedies “First Wives Club,” a movie that has become a classic over the years.

Who do you think is in the right and who is in the wrong here?
